Current Jams: July Edition

Welcome to this month's edition of Current Jams!

I'm sorry for not really updating this segment as much as I should, but Senior Year has been EATING ME ALIVE. Listening to music is one of the things that keep me sane, so here is an eclectic mix of artists/songs that I adore.

1. LANY
LANY is my new favorite band. Like holy shit. Their new EP "I Loved You" is SO freaking bomb!!!! When I first listened to ILYSB a few months ago, I fell in love. Their new album has constantly been on repeat this month.

Favorite songs: Walk Away, I Don't Care, Someone Else

2. Kehlani
If Kehlani and FKA Twigs did a collab, I would die. I love her vibe because it's such a chill aesthetic.

Favorite Songs: The Way, Jealous, Bright

3. A$AP Rocky
Only a few people know that I listen to rap music, but sadly, this genre is so underrated. A$AP Rocky's new album has been on repeat because it is A+++!

Favorite Songs: Canal St., Everyday, Angels

Others:
FIND YOUR WINGS - Tyler the Creator
Northern Downpour - Panic! at the Disco
Improbable - Safakash
Little Grace - Hippo Campus
Spiders - Night Riots
Young Lore - Night Riots

Now Showing: Modern Family

In the month of May, I've been looking for a tv show that could fill the Park and Recreation-shaped hole in my heart. And although Community did an okay job, it wasn't what a fully needed. Then I stumbled upon a golden gem: Modern Family.

Truth be told, I watched half of the first season at least three to four years ago and I stopped somewhere in between episodes 6 and 7. But then I found the strength to finish all of the seasons, including the latest one and now it's one of my favorite shows of all time. A close second to Parks and Rec!

I really love this show because the writing is impeccable. I laugh in every single episode, and sometimes even cry. These characters have a special place in my heart right now and I hope they'll never stop filming.

Favorite episodes:
Season 1 - My Funky Valentine, Hawaii, Family Portrait
Season 2 - Earthquake, Caught in the Act, Manny Get Your Gun
Season 3 - Dude Ranch, Little Bo Bleep, Baby on Board
Season 4 - Arrested, Fulgencio, Games People Play
Season 5 - Suddenly, Last Summer; Las Vegas, Australia, The Wedding
Season 6 - The Day We Almost Died, Connection Lost, Crying Out Loud

Getting my life together at sixteen (spoiler alert: it sucks)

I hate how people have high expectations of me. I'm sixteen year old, for crying out loud! I'm allowed to make mistakes here and there because I'm still developing; I'm still learning. The pressure of being an incoming senior feels like such a burden because all everyone thinks about is college. "What college/s are you applying for? What's your course?" I. Don't. Know. And I think that's fine. I believe that someone should be able to carefully choose what they want to be when they grow up. There shouldn't be any rush because it's something you have to be completely sure of.

The fact that so much people are counting on me makes it even harder, because you're not only thinking of yourself anymore. But you know what? I'm not going to comply with their standards because what I want to be doesn't need to involve other people making decisions for me.

For the past few months, I've been inclined over and over again to achieve things I don't even give a damn about and only now I've noticed how unhappy I actually am. And then I realized, I'm only sixteen. I'm allowed to take my time and make my own damn decisions because I have the right to.

SOMA

Today, me and my friend Monica visited this place where there was an exhibition of art and clothes. There was no entrance fee, so what the heck. We went in and we were so blown away because the aesthetic of the place was right up our alley!

March-April Favorites

MARCH - APRIL

BEAUTY

  1. Mad About You body polish from Bath & Body Works - this stuff is amazing and it smells really, really good! It has bits of diamond dust in the formula, which makes it a great exfoliant without being too harsh on the skin. What I love about it is that it's safe for daily use and it leaves your skin really soft.
  2. Mask of Magnamnity from LUSH - this is my all-time favorite face product and i will continue to repurchase it over and over again. It's an affordable product that will last a long time and it really cleanses and brightens the skin. Super worth every cent.
  3. Ocean Salt from LUSH - This product looks so pretty and it smells just like the beach. I only use it once a week, but it's enough to exfoliate my face for the duration.
  4. Hyper Glossy liquid liner from Maybelline - I love the formula of this eyeliner because it's really opaque, and easily removable if you make a mistake. My only concern, however is that the brush is kind of tricky, but no worries!
  5. My Lips Eat Cherry Aqua Tint in Juicy Red from The Face Shop - This is such a lovely, natural shade that makes me look alive in an instant. This affordable tint will last me ages because it takes a minimal amount for it to be opaque.
  6. Bleaching Kit - On the first week of summer, I decided that it was time for a change. I've dyed my hair a bunch of colors multiple times but it still ended up pretty much black. I bought this bleaching kit online and immediately used it on my tips, giving my hair an ombré effect.
  7. Powerpeel Soap - This soap was specially made to lighten your skin by using micropeeling. This is by far the most effective whitening soap I've used and it's only been two weeks since I purchased it.

FASHION

  1. Ramen Sweater from ZARA - my dad recently went on a trip to Singapore and got me this sweater from Orchard. I love it since it pretty much stands out on it's own. And who doesn't love ramen?
  2. Black high-waisted jeans from H&M - I love the quality of these jeans so much because they don't stretch at all, plus you can wear them with literally anything.
  3. White slip-ons from Vans - Super versatile and comfy!

TELEVISION & MOVIES

  1. How to Get Away with Murder - This so is AMAZING. Never a dull moment and excellent plot. Jack Falahee is just a mere bonus.
  2. Community - I won't lie when I say that I've finished five seasons + the newest episodes in a period of three days. I was just too obsessed with every character! My personal favorite episodes are Modern Warfare, Conspiracy Theories & Interior Design, A Fistful of Paintballs/For a Few Paintballs More, and Cooperative Calligraphy.
  3. The Godfather Trilogy - I spent 10 hours of my night just watching this incredible trilogy and by the end, I was just completely speechless and in awe.
  4. Neighbors - I've watched this movie four times and I still end up laughing every single time! My go-to movie whenever I'm with friends.

BOOKS & APPS

  1. Trivia Crack - Infuriating, yet oddly addicting.
  2. Atomas - Super addictive!
  3. All the Bright Places - this book holds a special place in my heart because it's really just so lovable.

MUSIC

  1. Outer Space by Duskus - This song just gives me shivers
  2. Ignition/Do You... by Phoebe Ryan - This mashup was amazing!! Phoebe's voice was just made for these songs
  3. Rip by Xolo - If you adore music with minimal lyrics then I got you. I don't know how to explain, but this song just gave me the vibes
  4. The Beauty Surrounds by Houses - Amazing song that makes me want to be in love
  5. Walk Away by  LANY - LANY is one of my favorite bands and I'm so stoked for their new songs. Walk Away is just an eargasm every single time.

This was my first attempt at making a ~Favorites~ segment, and I do hope I didn't do too poorly (whoops)?? Also, the pictures are credited to the owners.

Topshop Lookbooks - Spring Edition

Topshop is one of my favorite labels, but it is indeed hella expensive. So I was looking around Polyvore and experimenting on sets, when I just decided to make a Topshop-exclusive lookbook. Or three.
